Contract Manufacturing at Moorfields Pharmaceuticals

Moorfields Pharmaceuticals offers contract manufacturing to customers with high value / low volume products or niche products where annual demand is modest but supply continuity is critical for patient well-being.

Whilst other contract manufacturers focus on high volume opportunities, Moorfields Pharmaceuticals has built on its reputation as a "Specials" manufacturer and offers batch sizes up to 25,000 for vial presentations, depending on the fill volume.

With Moorfields Pharmaceuticals contract manufacturing both fully automated or semi-manual filling is available.

Bausch and Strobel Filling Machine contract manufacturing

Moorfields Pharmaceuticals contract manufacturing automated vial filling utilises a Bausch and Strobel KSF 1020 filler, protected by a Class A environment with a Class B background. Vials can be aseptically filled on this equipment or terminally sterilised post-filling.

Precision Sterile Hand Filling Pharmaceutical contract manufacturing

Moorfields Pharmaceuticals contract manufacturing semi-manual filling is performed under a Class A environment, with a Class B background. Baxa filling pumps are used to achieve the required filling accuracy whilst the filled vials are sealed with an automated crimping unit or cap applicator.

In the near future, Blow-Fill-Seal capabilities will be established within the facility. This is seen as a significant growth area, particularly in the preservative free ophthalmic product sector.
