Moorfields Pharmaceuticals recently acquired Ilube® 5% w/v Eye Drops (Aceytylcysteine) from Alcon Laboratories (UK). Moorfields recognized that the Ilube® bottle presentation required several improvements and are in the process of making the regulatory amendments to the MHRA.
In this interim period they are advising any pharmacists who experience difficulties with supply to contact the Moorfields customer services team directly for further information.
As part of the world-famous Moorfields Eye Hospital, in recent years Moorfields Pharmaceuticals has used its expertise to establish a strong business supplying a broad range of specialist ophthalmic medicines to the UK and Ireland. Dry eye syndrome has been identified as a significant area of need and opportunity. They plan to focus on dry eye syndrome and launch a continuum of therapies over the next 12 to 24 months; this includes the re-launch of Ilube 5% w/v Eye Drops (Aceytylcysteine).

About Ilube 5% w/v Eye Drops
Ilube eye drops are artificial tears with mucolytic and lubrication properties. This treatment can relieve dry eye conditions which are associated with a lack of tears or abnormal mucus production. Ilube eye drops work by reducing the stickiness of mucus in the eye and lubricate dry eyes, thus relieving any discomfort.
