Lubristil - Immediate and long lasting relief for dry eyes
Moorfields Pharmaceuticals are pleased to announce the launch of Lubristil™ eye drops.
Lubristil™ is a Sodium Hyaluronate eye lubricant, which is considered the gold standard in the management of dry eye conditions.
Sodium Hyaluronate is a pure natural polymer which is already present in structures of the human eye. Its ‘viscoelastic’ properties mean it can easily be applied to the surface of the eye to provide a stable coating with lubricating and hydrating properties. This makes it suitable to treat any level of dry eye conditions which are characterised by impaired tear production.
An additional benefit of Lubristil™ Sodium Hyaluronate is its low resistance when blinking, so it offers enhanced comfort when the drops are instilled. Sodium Hyaluronate has been shown to remain in contact with the ocular surface for a significantly longer period of time than other treatments1.
Because Lubristil™ is preservative-free it is particularly suitable to
patients who have become sensitive to the preservatives in eye drops or regular use of contact lenses. Lubristil™ carries a CE product mark and is classified as a medical device in the UK.
The product can be ordered through pharmaceutical wholesalers.

Moorfields dry eyes continuum
Moorfields Pharmaceuticals has identified dry eye syndrome as a significant area of patient need. It is a condition that increases with age with the over 60s most likely to suffer, but it is also influenced by lifestyle and environmental factors. Symptoms range from mild cases (which often go untreated and are caused by environmental factors) to severe disorders of the lachrymal film which result in chronic eye disease. These symptoms can often be relieved with preservative-free artificial tears, such as Lubristil™.
Moorfields Pharmaceuticals plan to focus on dry eye syndrome and believe there is a market opportunity for a range of high quality, innovative and competitively priced ocular lubricants and other therapies. Moorfields Pharmaceuticals is building on its reputation and links with the world famous Moorfields Eye Hospital, to establish a portfolio of branded ophthalmic treatments in unit dose, preservative-free formats, and over the next six months will announce other unique formulations for the UK.
Lubristil™ is the second product from Moorfields Pharmaceuticals focusing on dry eye syndrome; the first was the recently launched Hydromoor™, a unit-dose Hypromellose for mild dry eye.
Moorfields Pharmaceuticals has launched a unique dry eye resource for pharmacists and health professionals www.dryeyesmedical.com, which contains comprehensive information about diagnostic tools and treatments as well as peer-reviewed research.
