Moorfields Pharmaceuticals continues to grow

Moorfields Eyes Hospital has prepared products in response to clinical needs for over 50 years, initially with just a handful of pharmacists within the hospital.
In 2003 Moorfields Pharmaceuticals was launched with a purpose built manufacturing facility near to the hospital and we continue to enjoy a strong demand for our ophthalmic specials to primary and secondary care customers around the UK.
The main reason we are still growing as an organisation, is that our speciality in ophthalmology enables us to keep prices lower than many other private specials manufacturers. Now the NHS is facing such challenging times, we are determined to maintain our high quality and offer better value to our customers.
Lubristil™ - Now on the drug tariff
Earlier this year Moorfields Pharmaceuticals launched Lubristil™, a sodium hyaluronate eye lubricant, which is considered the gold standard in the management of dry eye conditions. Lubristil™ is now fully reimbursable on the NHS drug tariff and is available to order from wholesalers. Pip code–358–3028.
Lubristil™ is suitable to treat any level of dry eye conditions which are characterised by impaired tear production. Because Lubristil™ is preservative-free it is particularly suitable to patients who have become sensitive to the preservatives in eye drops, or regularly use contact lenses.
Lubristil™ contains 0.15% sodium hyaluronate and comes in 20 x 0.3ml preservative free unit doses.

Dry Eye Range
Moorfields Pharmaceuticals has identified dry eye syndrome as a significant area of patient need. It is a condition that increases with age with the over 60’s most likely to suffer, but it is also influenced by lifestyle and environmental factors.
Now that Lubristil™ is on the market, Moorfields Pharmaceuticals have 3 licensed products available which can treat the full range of dry eye symptoms, from mild and moderate to severe.

Special Quality
All Moorfields Pharmaceuticals` products are manufactured in accordance with our MHRA licences and the Rules and Guidance for Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Distributors 2007. Currently we produce 98 different specials, of which 76 are preservative free.
As part of our service, pharmacists can now also log on to our website to access up-to-date information and download Certificates of Analysis on all our category A products.
