Alan Krol

BPharm, MRPharmS, CDir

Alan Krol joined Moorfields Pharmaceuticals in 1999, to lead the £12million re-development project of the state of the art pharmaceutical manufacturing facility for sterile products. Qualifying as a Pharmacist in 1976 (MRPharmS), Alan joined SmithKline (now GSK) and has over 30 year's extensive experience within the pharmaceutical industry.

He has held a number of Senior Management roles, with involvement across all aspects of pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging, site operations, technical support, regulatory and marketing.

After successfully completing the development of the Moorfields Pharmaceuticals' facility in 2004, resulting in the award of the MRHA manufacturing and wholesale licence, Alan, was appointed as Managing Director of Moorfields Pharmaceuticals. Since then, he has achieved continuous success, growing the business in excess of 40% annually for the three years since his appointment and has positioned the organisation as a niche supplier of specialist ophthalmic medicines.

Alan is a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain and in 2006 was elected as a Chartered Director (CDir).


Geoff Bartlett

Dip M, DMS

Geoff's career spans the European Medical and Pharmaceutical industry, with senior positions held with some of the most prominent Global companies in this sector. As well as being responsible for many senior sales and marketing positions throughout his career, Geoff has secured a reputation as a strong leader, by developing and managing many European sales divisions and medical teams.

Through a successful 25 year career with 3M, Geoff held a number of senior positions including Sales & Marketing and European Business Management. Whilst in this role, he developed and managed a 150-strong European team structure, which were responsible for growing sales and profitability by 10% YOY, on a &pund;100M+ business. Geoff was also a prominent figure on many committee groups within the organisation.

In 1999, Geoff was able to take these skills forward with CNS following their purchase of the Breathe Right brand from 3M. He was responsible for establishing and managing a European distribution network for the brand. The European business was worth in excess of $20M, the largest international sector for CNS and therefore instrumental in the successful sale to GSK in 2006.

Geoff now brings his exceptional and creative business management skills to Moorfields Pharmaceuticals, where he is a central figure on the Senior Management Board, who have successfully established Moorfields as the leading manufacturer for ophthalmic products in the UK. Geoff's key responsibilities include sales, marketing and new business development for the group.


Nick Precious

B.Pharm, (Hons), MRPharmS, MBA (Open)

Nick forged a very successful career spanning 30 years with both Hoechst Marion Roussel and then Patheon who acquired the site from Hoechst in 1999, to become the leading contract manufacturer for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. During this time, Nick held numerous senior roles, progressing from Development Pharmacist to Head of Project Management, Pharmaceutical Development Services in 2001. Nick has impressive and extensive skills across all technical aspects of manufacture. He was responsible for developing quality assurance systems, improving manufacturing facilities and processes, and project-managing new product development programmes to achieve patent and licensing status - all of which had a significant impact on growing revenue from 0.5M€ to 11M€ during the last 5 years of his role.

Nick joined Moorfields Pharmaceuticals as a member of the Senior Management Board in April 2006. As Technical Director he is solely responsible for all Technical Operations, including site facilities, production, quality assurance, quality control and development departments. Nick's exceptional industry, regulatory and commercial management skills have already been instrumental in product development, implementation of pharmacovigilance systems and medical applications for the group.


Martyn Pitman

Finance Director BSc (Hons), ACA

Martyn graduated from UCL with a degree in Microbiology. Following 5 years as a Royal Air Force Officer, he qualified as a Chartered Accountant while working for Ernst & Whinney, first in the City and then in Canada. Since then he has taken a number of increasingly senior roles - Financial Controller, Finance Director and Managing Director - within a number of industries including construction materials and high-tech engineering.

Before joining Moorfields Pharmaceuticals as Finance Director and taking a position on the Senior Management Board, Martyn was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Amarin Corporation, a NASDAQ-quoted pharmaceutical development company.

With his extensive experience within the engineering and pharmaceutical industries, Martyn has played a significant part in the successful development of Moorfields Pharmaceuticals. Since he joined in 2004, the business has grown threefold. He has created a new finance department and installed a fully-integrated business management system. He has also developed both the procurement function and the production planning division, enabling effective cost control and ensuring that Moorfields Pharmaceuticals' customers receive the products they need when they need them.
